Recovery Support Specialist - Full Time. Nights, 7p-7:30a (includes two weekends/month). This position is eligible for applicable shift pay differentials. Provide care and support to patients in all recovery programs which includes, but not limited to, reporting of patient medical concern or medical observation concern, point-of-care testing, biometrics, echocardiograms (EKG), specimen collection, activities of daily living (ADL’s), mobility assistance, language services, observation checks, witness to skin assessment, medical observation, psychiatric observation, patient transfers, discharges, and assistance with medical procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its educational equivalent
  • General knowledge of substance uses and/or mental health disorders
  • BLS certification within60 daysof hire, current BLS cert preferred
  • Demonstrated communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Current NYS driver’s license and clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Recovery Peer Advocate, CRPA
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant Program or 1st year nursing program completion
  • Familiarity with relevant healthcare standards: OASAS, ASAM, etc.
  • Knowledge of Self-Help Programs, Mutual Support groups Programs, and 12-step programs
  • Completion of a mental health, social healthcare or nursing assistant program
  • Specific experience with substance use disorders

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient education as directed including unit orientation and advisement of program rules and regulations
  • Monitor and assist patients in adhering to treatment plans, schedules, and appointments. Provide non-clinical counseling and emotional support to patients, promoting a therapeutic and empathetic environment
  • Conduct belongings and room searches
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups to address topics relevant to substance use disorders, and recovery.
  • Facilitate and support patients with transportation to off-premises events and escort patients to off-site appointments
  • Respond and implementcrisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.Assistin medical and psychiatric emergency situations as directed and needed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and effective care and participate in clinical team meetings
  • Timely medical record documentation of interventions, progress, and incidents.
  • Monitor medical supply PAR levels and replenishes stock
  • Monitor business center use
  • Implement mitigation strategies and routinely reassess
  • Maintain a safe and caring environment, delivering care in a culturally sensitive manner and consistent with Wellbridge mission, vision, and values
