About The Position

The Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) at The Ridge Recovery Center plays a crucial role in supporting patients in their recovery journey by leveraging personal experiences to build trusting relationships. This position involves mentoring clients, developing individualized recovery plans, and facilitating community integration through various support services. The RSS is integral in creating a positive environment conducive to patient growth and recovery, while also linking clients to community resources and support networks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent with significant experience related to the population served.
  • Current, valid Connecticut driver's license.
  • Qualification for Public Service License.
  • Demonstrated peer support or mental health experience.
  • Personal experience relevant to services provided (recovery).
  • Ability to obtain Peer Support Specialist certification (preferably already certified as recovery coach or recovery support specialist).
  • Willingness to travel, sometimes daily, among various Rushford sites and transport clients as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Assess needs and develop an Individualized Recovery Plan (IRP) in collaboration with clients and service providers.
  • Utilize recovery-oriented interventions/services to ensure effective progress toward IRP goals.
  • Provide education and consultation to the Clinical Support Team regarding client-centered approaches.
  • Deliver instruction and skills training in illness and recovery management to clients and their families.
  • Engage clients in natural support networks and activities related to community integration.
  • Assist clients with finding, obtaining, and retaining safe, affordable housing through the Housing Supports Program.
  • Help clients arrange transportation to clinical, medical, and other necessary appointments.
  • Maintain program-related and administrative data/reports, statistical records, and other data collection activities as specified.
  • Prepare documentation to meet DMHAS PR program and funding requirements, maintaining all client records including progress notes and service plans.
  • Work under the general supervision of a licensed behavioral health professional.
  • Perform other duties as required.
