About The Position

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI), is a leading not-for-profit organization providing healing, justice and wholeness to people and communities. LSSI is hiring a full-time Recovery Support Specialist, Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Responsible for providing recovery support and crisis intervention to clients living in the community as a member of the Mobile Crisis Unit.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in the human service or social service required.
  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist certification required, or to be obtained within one year of date of hire.
  • Lived mental health or substance abuse experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organization, presentation and pc/computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with other related software.
  • Background check clearance required.
  • Valid driver’s license, in good standing for the state of residency required.
  • Access to reliable transportation required.
  • Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury and property damage required.

Nice To Haves

  • CADC (Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor) certification preferred.
  • Bilingual, Spanish and English, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to clients’ experiencing a mental health crisis or substance use crisis via telephone or in person.
  • Provide shift coverage in Mobile Crisis and maintain a case load of community-based clients.
  • Responsible for engaging, providing relapse education, and supporting clients in their recovery journey via telephone or in person.
  • Serve as a mentor to clients and provide on-going support.
  • Partner with clients to access the service and supports that will help individuals attain personal recovery goals.
  • Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity, treating clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations and/or individuals in a dignified, respectful, honest and fair manner.
