About the position

Connections Health Solutions is hiring for Recovery Support Specialists (RSS) across all shifts, including full-time, part-time, and PRN positions. The organization focuses on providing crisis intervention and recovery-oriented treatment, aiming to connect individuals to community resources and support them in their recovery journey. Founded by emergency room psychiatrists, Connections has over 30 years of experience in serving individuals in crisis and operates two of the largest crisis response centers in the nation. The RSS will play a crucial role in facilitating recovery by providing support and advocating for individuals throughout their treatment process.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as an active facilitator (or co-facilitator) in groups and individual recovery.
  • Serves as an individual advocate and support resource throughout the treatment process.
  • Works to lessen the instance of seclusion and restraint by building therapeutic alliances and exercising trauma-informed care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of community resources to help meet individuals' unique recovery needs.
  • Implements knowledge of multiple paths of recovery and promotes them equally.
  • Works cohesively with a multi-discipline team through all aspects of individuals' treatment and recovery.
  • Documents all encounters with individuals in the electronic health record.
  • Encourages and supports from a place of experience and understanding, willing to use appropriate self-disclosure.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified as Peer Support Counselor (CPC).
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) or ability to obtain an NPI prior to the start date.
  • Must be fully vaccinated or exempt pursuant to the Company's exemption process prior to the start date.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Card for the State of Washington.

Nice-to-haves

  • Behavioral Health/Substance Use Treatment or GMH Recovery experience.
  • Completion of Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) CPC 40-hour training and exam.
  • Completion of specialized peer certifications (WHAM, ASIST, etc.).
  • Knowledge of evidence-based/person-centered skillsets, such as Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, Verbal De-escalation, Harm Reduction, and Person-centered language.
