About The Position

Mark Twain Behavioral Health (MTBH) is a private not-for-profit Certified Community Behavioral Health Organization serving Northeast Missouri since 1975 with a wide variety of services. Mark Twain Behavioral Health is seeking a full-time REGISTERED NURSE for our HANNIBAL MISSOURI - COMMUNICATIONS DRIVE location. The Registered Nurse provides clinical nursing services under the supervision and direction of the Withdrawal Management Program Director and Medical Director. This position in a 24/7 behavioral health setting requires 12-hour shifts (8am-8pm) on a rotating schedule to include weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Adherence to the MTBH Ethical Code of Conduct and all policies is required.

Requirements

  • Current Missouri license (RN)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of drug and alcohol and mental health disorders

Nice To Haves

  • Two years behavioral health experience recommended

Responsibilities

  • Triage for level of care
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed to stabilize acute crisis
  • Conduct intake, brief medical screens, and crisis assessment
  • Provide nursing services within scope of practice and per direction of medical providers
  • Establish and maintain a professional and positive relationship with the medical providers and community stakeholders
  • Complete appropriate clinical data in a timely manner such as documentation in the electronic health record
  • Contribute to the development of the person-centered/crisis stabilization plan
  • Monitor and log all medication passes to comply with DMH standards
  • Facilitate medication consult with medical provider
  • Attend staff meetings with clinical staff and medical providers
  • Provide care and oversight of clients in collaboration with other team members
  • Educate clients regarding their illness and their medications
  • Conduct psychoeducational groups
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed
  • Serve as a liaison for MTBH clients to their medical provider
  • Provide occasional on-call consultation regarding after-hour admissions
  • Coordinate disease management services and programs
