About The Position

The Recovery Program Coordinator reports to the Director of Recovery Services. They lead the planning and delivery of our physical, mental, emotional, and character development and support programming at the Brooklyn Community Recovery Center. These programs are designed to engage a broad and diverse cross section of the recovery community, enhance well-being, and promote recovery-oriented living. The Program Coordinator liaises with established vendors who facilitate these services, and they seek out and onboard new vendors to meet developing needs. Such programs include, but are not limited to yoga, fitness, music, art, self-help, and mutual aid. In collaboration with the leadership team (Director, other Coordinators, Recovery Care Manager, etc.), s/he is responsible for the on-site management of the Brooklyn Community Recovery Center programming and its staff, as well as to establish and maintain community relationships in furtherance of a community recovery vision and toward the mission and goals of the Recovery Community Outreach Center, and those of the agency-at-large. This is a grant funded position and renews Sept. 29, 2026.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Art, Music, Movement or related field
  • Certified Recovery Coach
  • 2 years of experience providing or coordinating service delivery, mentoring/coaching/leading staff and/or volunteers
  • Familiarity with regulations governing substance use disorder recovery support services

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for both administrative and peer professional staff; supervises their hiring, informs/conducts performance evaluations, assigns training activities, recommends for promotions, evaluates for discipline and terminations.
  • Under the guidance of the Director of Recovery Services, plans, directs, and coordinates all training, professional development, and vocational/educational services for patients.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness, makes revisions to the program design and/or policies and procedures, as needed.
  • Provides guidance and support to the Recovery Care Manager to ensure an adequate recovery care environment exists.
  • Facilitates independently or in coordination with other leadership, regular staff meetings to coordinate activities in accordance with the Center's goals.
  • Evaluates and monitors program activities (e.g. counseling, peer encounter groups, seminars and workshops, work assignments).
  • Liaise with the senior administrative and other staffs in the region.
  • Ensures that all personnel policies, procedures and clinical regulatory requirements are adhered to by staff.
  • Responsible for coordinating on administrative functions and reporting, including preparing annual budgets, controlling monthly expenses, scheduling staff and issuing required monthly reports.
  • Responsible for developing relationships with appropriate community agencies, coalitions, partnerships, and service providers, etc.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Recovery Services for developing and maintaining relationships with appropriate government agencies, including representing the agency on meetings with such.
  • Engages with program participants to provide recovery coaching services and advocate for the needs of participants and the recovery community.
