About The Position

As a member of the Recovery Ministries Team, the Recovery Ministries Coordination Director works with the Director of Recovery Ministries to implement new programs that support individuals in recovery through support groups, volunteer supervision and recruitment, teaching and pastoral care. They serve the entire congregation, designing, implementing, and guiding recovery ministries across all our locations, in consultation with Location Pastors, Connection and Care Pastors, and trained volunteers.

Requirements

  • Proven Results in understanding and leading individuals and groups in biblically based recovery principles, including 12-step programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) training preferred, or willing to be trained upon employment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, teach, and facilitate care groups, specifically around the topic of recovery and addiction management.
  • Serve as a church-wide resource for the church’s pastors, ministry leaders and congregants to provide expertise in the areas of addiction, recovery and spiritual growth.
  • Participate in strategic planning and visioning for the church’s resources, including programs, teachings, groups, counseling and literature available for those facing addiction and their families.
  • Expand the outreach of Resurrection’s Recovery programs by conducting recovery meetings at substance use disorder agencies and recovery homes across the Kansas City Metro area.
  • Participate in overseeing the selection or development and implementation of appropriate curricula for programming for recovery ministries.
  • Ensure quality volunteer delivery of Resurrection Recovery support groups through recruitment, training, evaluation, and coaching of volunteer group leaders.
  • Identify additional gaps in recovery services by convening a recovery panel of community business leaders, other clergy, social workers, etc., to solicit input for the development of new programs.
  • Assist in oversight of ministry-hosted social events and gatherings on a recurring timeline.
  • Counsel individuals in recovery ministries regarding spiritual questions and concerns, maintaining appropriate contact and follow up with them regarding their care needs.
  • When requested, provide short-term pastoral and/or pastoral counseling especially for the Recovery community.
  • Assist with special projects related to Recovery Ministries
  • Other duties as assigned.
