We offer behavioral healthcare services – psychiatry, addiction recovery, mental disorder treatment, etc. – that allow clients at all stages of recovery or rehabilitation to reclaim health and well-being. Schedule: Mon- Thursday 11-7; Friday rotating 10-6 or 2:30-10:30pm with 1 rotating weekend on call per month Pay range: $20-$24 per hour

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history & willingness to travel locally required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification in the state of Maryland. Preferred
  • Previous experience in a treatment or recovery setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and exposure to behavioral health-related training is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with members of the Recovery Support team on shift to support operational activities of the recovery community center, including but not limited to opening and closing the center, activity setup and teardown, phone or messaging support, and safety checks.
  • Provides a trauma-informed welcome and orientation to persons presenting for services.
  • Utilizes pro-recovery language of hope, empathy, and accountability to assist individuals and families in considering and acting on the recovery activities they seek.
  • Assists the team with resolving barriers to participation in services sought, including but not limited to a focus on removing barriers in the way of accessibility.
  • Facilitates awareness, education, and documentation of client use of recovery pathways and services.
  • Follows up with those requesting peer specialist follow-up contacts as assigned.
  • Facilitates and supports mutual aid groups offered during shifts at the recovery community center.
  • Upon request, offers virtual, tele, or in-person accompaniment support for individuals utilizing services.
  • Follows standard operating procedures to guide communication, collaboration, and processes, and provides feedback on efficacy to the Director as needed.
  • Reacts quickly to problems and supports immediate problem-solving as a collaborative member of the team.
  • Offers the strategic use of own experiences in a peer-to-peer manner to inspire and educate individuals and families entering the facility that help is available, treatment is effective, and recovery is possible.
  • Participates in group and individual supervision.
  • Ensures that the assessment and intake process is welcoming, pro-recovery, trauma-informed, and results in the individual successfully engaging in services.
  • When successful engagement in the recommended treatment program cannot occur, the position will assist Center Specialists and the Director to educate and refer alternative options.
  • Demonstrates insight and learning ability in trauma-informed healing relationships, boundaries, and ethics related to serving in a peer specialist role, able to work successfully as a member of a team and independently.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, adaptability, collaboration, and creativity in problem-solving, abiding by the philosophy and core values of the program, including when a crisis intervention is required.
  • Team orientation: a hands-on, cooperative approach to help persons in the admission and engagement process and provide strong internal and external customer service.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of safety and orientation for persons entering treatment.
  • Flexibility to listen and incorporate new ideas and approaches.
  • Models an empathetic approach in a manner that creates an atmosphere of welcome, empowerment, and growth for individuals.
  • Focus on quality and fidelity to best practices and engagement initiatives in peer support and the best practices of the organization and in trauma-informed care.
