About The Position

Under the supervision of the Program Administrator and Clinical Director in the Substance Use Disorder Treatment Department, this position is responsible for the delivery of support services to individuals with opioid and other substance use disorders and those who have co-occurring disorders. Services must be provided in accordance with the Performance Contract, Community Service Standards, Helen Farabee Centers policy and procedures, Medicaid standards, and Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) guidelines. Applicant must be able to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Eligibility for designation/certification as a Peer Provider and/or Recovery Coach within the first 4 to 12 months of hire.
• Personal lived experience with a substance use disorder and/or a co-occurring disorder.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable to drive Center vehicles.
• Ability to pass and maintain all Center mandated trainings.
• Possess current or be able to obtain a designation/certification as a peer specialist/recovery coach.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of opioid and other substance use disorders, medication assisted therapy, and opioid overdose education and prevention.
• Ability to work independently in the community and treatment setting.
• Experience in documenting patient and family contacts using network computers and database software.

Responsibilities

• Provide support services and serve as a consumer advocate for individuals receiving services.
• Provide information and peer support in an outpatient setting.
• Assist individuals in regaining control over their own lives and recovery process.
• Role model competency, stability in recovery, and ongoing coping skills.
• Support individuals and learning teams by providing hope, encouragement, support, self-determination, and connection to the community.
• Monitor participants in Recovery Support Services for up to one year.
• Collect data as required by Helen Farabee Centers and HHSC.
• Provide consultation and support to fellow staff as needed.
• Conduct education groups in the community and treatment settings.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in treatment planning sessions as requested.

Benefits

• Full-time position with a salary range of $10.59 - $10.95 hourly.
• Work hours are typically 8-5 M-F, but may vary.
