About The Position

At Community-Minded Enterprises, we believe recovery happens in community. Through our Recovery Café, we provide a welcoming, drug- and alcohol-free space where individuals can find connection, support, and hope on their recovery journey. We are looking for a reliable and community-minded team member to help support the day-to-day operations of the Recovery Café. This part-time position (20 hours per week) plays an important role in keeping the Café running smoothly, from transporting food donations to supporting members, volunteers, and staff in creating a safe, positive, and healing environment. As a Recovery Café Support Staff member, you will help maintain the welcoming atmosphere of the Café while supporting operations and community engagement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Current auto insurance and vehicle registration
  • Portable background check
  • Food Handler’s Permit
  • Writes clearly and communicates effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Comfortable performing basic arithmetic.
  • Experience with simple data tracking or documentation.
  • Demonstrates empathy, patience, and professionalism.
  • Focuses on resolving conflicts constructively.
  • Listens actively and remains open to others’ ideas.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Contributes to a supportive team environment.
  • Welcomes feedback and collaborates well with others.
  • Follows safety procedures and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Uses equipment and materials appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up and transport food donations from Feed Spokane to the Recovery Café on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • Unload, organize, and track donated food inventory.
  • Assist with stocking and maintaining kitchen supplies.
  • Assist with food preparation, meal service, and kitchen clean-up.
  • Support general café operations to ensure the space remains clean, safe, and welcoming.
  • Help maintain a drug- and alcohol-free environment that supports recovery.
  • Assist with front desk responsibilities including answering phones, greeting visitors, and basic data entry.
  • Communicate café guidelines and boundaries respectfully with members, volunteers, and staff.
  • Support members by connecting them to community resources when appropriate.
  • Support the Recovery Café Manager with outreach and relationship building in the community.
  • Assist with facilitating Recovery Circles and new member orientations.
  • Help support volunteers and contribute to a positive community atmosphere.
  • Assist with other operational activities and projects that support the success of the Recovery Café.
