About The Position

Our Records Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's records throughout their full lifecycle—from creation through to preservation and eventual disposal—ensuring alignment with business, legal, and regulatory requirements. This role partners with various stakeholders to design, implement, and enforce records retention policies and schedules, integrating information governance by design. It emphasizes risk analysis, regulatory compliance (including data privacy and nuclear sector standards such as NRC/DOE regulations), and practical use of records management software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Library Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Typically, ten plus years of experience in records management or information governance.
  • Comprehensive understanding of compliance, data privacy, and sector-specific regulations (NRC/DOE).
  • Proficiency with records management software and information systems.
  • Experience developing retention policies and governance frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of records lifecycle management, retention scheduling, and classification systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee full records lifecycle management: creation, classification, storage, retrieval, archival, and disposition.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce the Records Retention Policy and Schedule, ensuring adherence to internal and external requirements.
  • Analyze risks associated with information lifecycle, and design mitigation strategies to reduce legal, operational, and reputational risks.
  • Manage records management software implementation and oversight of electronic and physical records systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, regulations, data privacy laws, and NRC/DOE regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to verify compliance with retention, access, and disposal policies.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement to align departmental processes with governance frameworks.
  • Provide training and awareness programs on records management best practices, policy updates, and software tools.
  • Collaborate with IT, legal, privacy, and business units to embed records management in systems architecture and processes.
  • Apply data privacy principles to protect sensitive information throughout lifecycle.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
