About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for an OPS (Other Personal Services) position located in the Central Office in the Bureau of Construction & Engineering at the Holland Building in Tallahassee, Florida. The mission of Facilities Management and Building Construction at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors through effective management, maintenance, and construction of correctional facilities. This position is not a telework position and requires reporting to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • At least two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro, and others.
  • At least two (2) years of experience with analyzing data.
  • Knowledge of office procedures, practices, and principles of effective communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in customer service, active listening, and establishing/maintaining effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to analyze information, address public relations needs, organize files/records, and plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Proficient in typing letters, memoranda, and business forms in correct format; ability to use proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Ability to utilize multi-line phone systems and handle calls courteously and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry, tracking, mining, and analyzing of the department’s energy consumption.
  • Assist professional staff on drafting reports by providing necessary information.
  • Assist with research into new or improved methods or technologies regarding energy consumption.
  • Prepare, route, and track pay applications and permit applications.
  • Compile pre-construction and close out documents and vendor information.
  • Receive and track submittals from vendors and contractors.
