About The Position

Under general supervision and guidance of the Deposit Operations Assistant Manager, the Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of unposted/NSF transaction processes for deposit customers in a timely manner. The RS will focus heavily on general ledger and correspondent bank reconciliation along with problem solving. Work will be accomplished with limited oversight by the Deposit Operations Team Manager. Work is highly confidential in nature and involves the skilled use of a computer.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Two (2) years related work experience/training in a business field (e.g. accounting, office mgmt, finance, etc.) that showcases mathematical/balancing skills required
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a bank or other financial institution required
  • Effectively support Supervision
  • Exhibit strong mathematic aptitude with ability to learn general ledger accounting
  • Display strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Manage assigned tasks effectively and independently while meeting time constraints
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Read, understand and comply with documents (e.g. policy manuals, laws, regulations, internal procedures and controls, etc.) and exercise independent judgement, initiative, and discretion based on knowledge of such in performing daily activities
  • Exercise trustworthy service, courtesy, tact and diplomacy in dealing with others
  • Provide transportation to attend required training/meetings at designated locations within the bank
  • Proficiently type on a keyboard and 10-key calculator
  • Efficiently use standard office equipment (i.e. desktop/laptop computer and software, copier, scanners, printers, fax, multi-line telephone system, etc.)
  • Proficiently use MS Office applications (Word, Excel)
  • Exhibit professional appearance and manner
  • This position requires manual dexterity; to regularly sit; use hands to finger, key data, handle or feel; to reach with hands and arms; to talk and hear; the employee must occasionally stand, walk, bend, stoop, or kneel.
  • The employee may regularly be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.; occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and focus.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver phenomenal customer service through aggressive friendliness accompanied by honest, positive and confident behaviors (in-house and on the phone)
  • Process unposted/NSF transactions
  • Process ACH Exceptions
  • Assessing NSF/OD charges to customers
  • Processing check returns from correspondent banks
  • Conducting correspondent bank reconciliations
  • Perform adjustment entries for correction of improper transactions on deposit accounts. This may include adjustment entries between correspondent banks.
  • Conducting reconciliations for teller cash and equivalent accounts
  • General Ledger entries
  • General Ledger Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • MNB deposit account reconciliations
  • Researching variances and resolving reconciliation issues
  • Maintaining logs and reports used by the Recon Department
  • Training others within the Reconciliation Department for back up purposes
  • Performing unclaimed property due diligence and report filing in compliance with State law
  • Perform a variety of clerical functions, including data entry, faxing, scanning and photocopying of documents
  • Protect bank operations through utmost confidentiality
  • Perform any other related duties as may be required or assigned
