About The Position

The Reconciliation Specialist at Wright-Patt Credit Union Inc. plays a crucial role in the Accounting Department by supporting the monthly reporting of financial results. This position involves reconciling general ledger accounts, resolving issues, ensuring compliance with policies, and providing support to the Member Center Network. The specialist will also prepare accounting entries, develop procedures, and assist with audits and regulatory examinations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Accounting or related field is required; Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required, preferably in a reconciliation/accounting function.
  • Knowledge of intermediate-level accounting principles is necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with detail while meeting deadlines is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with accounting software programs, including ERP systems and reconciliation applications, are necessary.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, is required.
  • Experience in a financial institution is preferred.
  • Ability to accomplish assignments without close supervision is important.
  • Ability to use analytical and independent judgment for process improvements and problem resolution is necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a reconciliation/accounting function, including month-end closing experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a financial institution, including working with teller transactions in a core system, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles necessary data and reports for assigned reconciliations and reconciles routine general ledger accounts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Tracks and researches outstanding reconciling items and collaborates with internal and external departments to resolve them.
  • Provides accounting and transactional support via telephone and email to the Member Center Network.
  • Prepares and posts daily accounting entries.
  • Develops and revises practices and procedures related to the Reconciliation Specialist duties and supports overall accounting functions.
  • Serves as an Accounting representative on committees for procedural improvements and efficiencies.
