About The Position

This Recipient Relations Specialist position seeks to attract, engage, and enroll prospective recipients of the Mission:Dignity ministry while working to retain current recipients. The Recipient Relations Associate will represent Mission:Dignity to individuals in both large and small group settings by communicating the story of Mission:Dignity with boldness, clarity and conviction while helping to build strategic partnerships with the aim of guiding applicants through the application process. “We serve those who serve the Lord with the integrity of our hearts and skillfulness of our hands (Psalm 78:72).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of 2+ years’ work experience in a non-profit or ministry.
  • Travel is required for up to 25% annually.
  • Proficient skills in MS Office and appropriate system applications.
  • Excellent relational skills including the ability to deal with a broad spectrum of people, especially senior citizens over the age of 65, of various economic, social and cultural backgrounds with professionalism and courtesy. This includes both internal and external customers and constituents.
  • Strong ability to clearly communicate in both written and verbal form.
  • Public speaking/presentation skills including the capacity to speak with confidence and professionalism in front of groups ranging in size from 10-12 up to several thousand.
  • Understanding of an ability to communicate the story of Mission:Dignity in large and small group settings with boldness, clarity and conviction.
  • Preparing and preaching sermons as requested.
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with church leaders.
  • Ability to coordinate some travel with GuideStone office work.
  • Working knowledge of SBC polity, philosophy and history.
  • Working knowledge of GuideStone products and services.
  • Willingness to pursue ongoing training.
  • Total dedication to quality customer service and personal integrity.
  • Ability to lift and transport relatively heavy and sometimes bulky objects/equipment needed for presentations.
  • Must have complete confidentiality regarding GuideStone business matters.

Responsibilities

  • Engage and equip prospective recipients by developing personalized pathways that help move them from initial interest to approved recipient in Mission:Dignity.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Recipient Relations and Mission:Dignity staff to design and implement mobilization strategies that effectively identify potential recipients.
  • Champion and amplify the needs of retired ministers, missionaries, church workers, and their widows who face financial challenges—sharing their stories with churches, associations, state conventions, and other partners to inspire ministry involvement and support.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Strategist to craft compelling content and communication pieces that mobilize churches, leaders, and networks to connect eligible individuals with Mission:Dignity.
  • Guide and support prospective recipients through the Mission:Dignity grant application process ensuring the care and dignity they deserve.
  • Serve as a relational bridge between Mission:Dignity and both prospective recipients and SBC leaders—through virtual meetings, phone calls, emails, written communication, home visits, on‑site interactions, and participation in local, regional, and national SBC gatherings where mobilization may occur.
  • Cultivate relationships with current recipients to foster a grassroots referral network, encouraging them to help identify others who may be served through Mission:Dignity.
  • Utilize grant‑making tools, analytics, and relationship insights to understand recipient needs and histories so that appropriate financial assistance may be disbursed.
  • Maintain and update records in the grant‑making system to ensure accurate tracking of prospective recipients, key interactions, and mobilization progress.
  • Manage travel and ministry engagement budgets wisely, planning trips that strategically advance Mission:Dignity’s outreach and mobilization efforts (up to 25% travel).
  • Represent and serve GuideStone with integrity in the furtherance of its mission and values.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Mission:Dignity or Manager, Recipient Relations.
