The role involves sorting and distributing daily mail, maintaining the school's voicemail system, and ensuring all recorded messages are current. A key aspect of the position is student management, which includes maintaining student sign-out logs, verifying emergency cards, placing calls when necessary, and following safety precautions during student release. The receptionist prepares daily lists of signed-out students for the Attendance Clerk. Other duties include maintaining a visitor's sign-in log, being familiar with DISTRICT/STATE DATABASE panels for student schedules, and ensuring confidentiality of student information. The role also involves forwarding returned student mail to the registrar for database updates, enforcing sign-out policies, and notifying administrators of any abuses. The receptionist maintains an updated reference log, ensures the front office reception area is clean and neat, and keeps bulletin boards and handouts current. Communication tasks include answering intercom calls, delivering intercom messages, and assisting with morning announcements. The receptionist is responsible for allowing entry to visitors, staying current with major school events, and handling mass mailings such as Report Cards. The position also involves managing all ID, bus, and staff badges, issuing various passes (elevator, hall, bathroom), pre-badging, coordinating, and tracking volunteer status in Raptor, handling new student ID pictures, and creating teacher door signs and photo badges. The Director/Principal may assign other tasks as needed.
