About The Position

The Receptionist at Santa Clara Mortuary plays a vital role in supporting the mortuary by managing incoming calls and visitors, providing information about services, and performing various clerical tasks. This position requires a friendly and empathetic demeanor, as well as the ability to maintain a comfortable environment for client families. The Receptionist works under the supervision of the Administration Supervisor and is responsible for ensuring smooth operations at the facility.

Requirements

  • Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of office administrative tasks and office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to read and interpret Mortuary and Cemeteries policies, procedures, contracts, and customer files.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Understanding of Christian Burial in the Catholic Church.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming telephone calls and assist callers with questions or comments, directing calls to appropriate team members.
  • Greet and receive client families and visitors, maintaining a friendly and empathetic attitude.
  • Provide information associated with services and products courteously and politely.
  • Maintain a clean entrance area and provide light housekeeping as necessary.
  • Maintain daily facility schedule and assist in memo preparation, including scanning photos and proofreading.
  • Research records for genealogy requests and process petty cash and bank deposits.
  • Order markers, granite, and final date scrolls, and maintain deed and trust files.
  • Complete Installation Work Orders (IWO) and perform other duties as assigned.
