About The Position

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Picks up mail and sorts it according to financial policy and procedures.
  • Coordinates all telephone communication in the practice.
  • Answers all incoming calls in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Coordinates all answering service for off-duty hours.
  • Responds to incoming patient account telephone inquiries.
  • Calculates final bills for patients who are ready to leave the practice.
  • Collects patient-owed balances or copays when due at the time of service.
  • Registers new and existing patients into the patient information management system.
  • Maintains the change fund and reconciles the balance per financial policy and procedure.
  • Advises patients or guarantors of third-party payor benefits and estimates private payor amounts.
  • Collects payment prior to admission in accordance with established guidelines and practice policies.
  • Explains financial requirements to the patient or responsible party and collects deposits or deductibles as required.
  • Maintains required records, reports, and statistics as directed.
  • Maintains an orderly work area.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep an adequate inventory of materials on hand for practice operations.
  • Communicates information to the practice manager, practice physician, etc. to promote the smooth running of practice affairs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
