About The Position

The Reception Pit Operator, is responsible for the safe and efficient operation
of the anaerobic digester reception pit which includes inspecting, weighing and
conducting initial cleaning of material before they enter the digesters. , which
are systems that break down organic waste to produce biogas and digestate. This
role involves a combination of monitoring, maintenance, and operational tasks to
include the operation of equipment to ensure the optimal performance of the
digestive process and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Ability to work in a wet, noisy, dusty, humid, hot or cold environment.
• Ability to walk and stand on feet for more than 10 hours per shift.
• Ability to climb stairs / fixed and vertical ladders occasionally, requires upper body and arm strength due to frequently claiming vertical ladders and having to pull up your own weight and not afraid of Hights.
• Requires occasional bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Utilize hand tools and shovel frequently throughout shift.
• Ability to identify and use PPE in accordance with SDS sheets.
• Must be able to pass a fit test, physical exam, and pulmonary function test (lung capacity) and serve on Hazardous response team.

Nice To Haves

• Industrial control and multiple heavy equipment experience skills preferred.
• Experience in wastewater treatment or anaerobic digestion is often preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ability to operate and monitor digesters, control the input of materials into the digesters, monitor equipment, gauges and charts related to digesters performance (temperature, PH, biogas, etc.), perform light maintenance and adjustment tasks on digester equipment, troubleshooting and addressing operational issues, properly adjusts production machines to ensure efficiency, quality and accuracy with minimal loss of product, daily set-up and operation of production machines and operating machines to production standards, maintains accurate inventory of supplies needed to operate the machine, document product specs and completing daily reports, forklift operation which requires a forklift license. Coordinate with other personnel to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Participates as a member of the Team. Participate in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T. practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues, e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger Organization.
