About The Position

We are looking for a high potential individual ready to take on challenges and responsibilities at our Reserve, Louisiana grain processing facility. This position reports to the Grain Superintendent. The control room receiving operator's primary responsibility is to coordinate the accurate and efficient unloading, weighing, sampling, binning and ordering of barges and railcars as well as completing all necessary documentation associated with these tasks.

Requirements

  • Exhibit regular and prompt attendance
  • Able to meet physical requirements of the position including, but not limited to: prolonged periods of standing and sitting, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, working in a variety of conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc), lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Willing to work 12 hr shift work (weekends, holidays)
  • Demonstrate initiative to work independently while flexible enough to work in team setting when needed
  • Exhibit a professional image at all times; maintain a positive and respectful attitude
  • Strong understanding of computers (including Microsoft Word and Excel), math comprehension and previous plant environment experience is preferred
  • High school education or equivalent is preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC card) to access Port per Homeland Security

Responsibilities

  • Works under the supervision of ship superintendent
  • Must possess the ability to multi task
  • Start/stop/ and monitor all equipment used in operations
  • Bin barge/rail into appropriate bins based on commodity and grades
  • Accurately maintain inventory system
  • Accurately weigh barge/railcar unloads
  • Complete all associated documentation of unloading process in a timely manner
  • Maintain communication with associated barge/rail lines in order to have product delivered and pulled in a timely basis
  • Learn FGIS grain grading factors and requirements for all commodities to be loaded
  • Supervision of Area housekeeping and cleaning of equipment and buildings
  • Supervision/assist operations personnel, maintenance personnel and supervisors as needed
  • Supervision/assist work related to barge/rail production
  • Assist with grain handling
  • Movement and operation of forklift, tractor, sweeper, gator and locomotive
  • Retrieve Bin Soundings and assist with Bin Deck operations
