About The Position

This position is responsible for operating 5th wheel spotter trucks and moving 53' trailers in and out of loading areas while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Responsibilities also include assisting with product storage, retrieval, shipping/receiving, and housekeeping.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one-year experience operating spotter or transfer trucks, moving 53' trailers.
  • Three years' experience preferred.
  • Must have current driver license (cannot be suspended).
  • Must not have had a DUI/DWI conviction within the last 12 months.
  • Experience operating a forklift also required.
  • Must be able to communicate on two-way radios with dispatchers/management and other shipping/receiving personnel.
  • Must be able to read and write English to complete logs.
  • Basic math skills which include understanding weights.
  • Basic computer skills to operate computerized scale and RF Handhelds.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and push/pull 100 lb.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods.
  • Must wear steel/composite toe boots that conform to site requirements.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends.
  • Must be able to work in a cold environment (-10 degrees below zero to 40 degrees F).
  • Must have 6 months of documented forklift experience required, can be a combination of employers as long as the experience is at least 6 months.
  • Previous experience driving yard trucks required.

Responsibilities

  • Moving 53' trailers in and out of loading docks.
  • Standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and reaching as required.
  • Working outside in extreme hot and/or cold environments and driving during inclement weather.
  • Inspecting and notifying the supervisor of any mechanical issues.
  • Fueling reefer trailers and tractors for operational needs.
  • Maintaining documentation of fuel dispensed.
  • Weighing loads at the scale house while empty and full.
  • Monitoring, changing out, and offloading trailers as needed.
  • Assisting the Danville Freezer team as needed.
