About The Position

SUMMARY: The Receiving clerk is responsible for receiving materials and goods into the warehouse, interfacing with customers on inventory, and shipping product and materials to customers and vendors. The candidate will also operate a forklift truck to move materials in the plant and load/ unload trucks and schedule trucking. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As deliveries and shipments are made, read/generate the delivery papers, determine that the proper items and quantities are being delivered or shipped Unload and stow goods in proper place Maintain all delivery and shipping papers daily and deliver these papers to the Planner in the front office Communicate to the leadership team, when critical items are received Operate fork truck to supply all materials to can lines, presses, and slitters Operate fork truck to move finished units from manufacturing area to warehouse or load trucks as required Operate fork truck to empty scrap and trash hoppers Operate fork truck to load and unload trucks as required Daily maintenance of their assigned fork trucks Use a production order to pull and assemble orders for shipment. This requires reading the order, determining number of packages of each item needed, and assembling all of the items for shipment. Identifying each package, as required, with proper information Load the order as required while avoiding damage in loading, shipping, and unloading at the final destination Prepare all paperwork required for shipment; Bill of Ladings, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, etc. Accuracy of counts is extremely important, and accuracy of information to the Planner when the order is complete, advising of all items loaded and items not available for shipment Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with State and Federal laws Follow Company personnel and product safety requirements including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs Schedule trucking as needed Interface with customers with regards to inventory and shipment dates. Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

  • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Must pass the Fork Truck Training Certification course. Achievement of high school level math.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read in English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent as well as draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid State issued driver’s licenses, which meets Company requirements of the Fleet Management Policy and insurance requirements.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit; use hands and fingers to handle and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently life and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to operate the fork truck in a safe and expeditious manner so that there are no delays in the manufacturing or in the shipping operations. Employee must be able to safely and efficiently operate the lift at its maximum lift height (approximately 180”).
