About The Position

The Recall Specialist and Coordinator coordinates and oversees recall activities from identification through resolution. This role ensures recalls are executed efficiently, comply with regulatory requirements, and minimize risk to customers and the organization. The specialist works cross-functionally with compliance, risk, supply chain, customer service, and external agencies. The primary goal is to ensure consumer safety and regulatory compliance. Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent, preferred.
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use and operate basic computer functions, basic scanning and copy machine usage.
  • Ability to write in either e-mail or note form clearly and legible or verbally explaining any receiving issue to accounting or to the vender. Must know how to use proper phone etiquettes. Position requires briefing multiple departments and occasionally large groups.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, in all unites of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Demonstrates a good knowledge of inventory and receiving functions.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly monitoring notifications from mail, databases, and notification systems from agencies like the National Recall Alert Center to identify new recall alerts relevant to the organization’s inventory.
  • Using inventory management software to locate affected products by batch, lot, or serial number within the supply chain.
  • Drafting and distributing urgent notification letters, emails, or announcements to internal teams, distributors, retailers, and final consumers.
  • Coordinating with warehouse or department managers to immediately quarantine and segregate recalled items to prevent further use.
  • Managing the returns process, including arranging pickups, processing exchanges/refunds, and verifying product disposal or destruction.
  • Maintaining a detailed "digital audit trail" and submitting monthly progress reports to prove successful recall completion.
