About The Position

This position at Cobb is responsible for the cleaning, storing, reassembling, testing, and maintaining of Feed Conversion processing machinery. It involves operating equipment, making required adjustments, and performing preventative maintenance. Additionally, the role includes attending to and caring for birds in Real Time Feed Conversion houses, inspecting birds for quality and progress, and ensuring accurate data collection. The successful candidate will be part of the Cobb family, eligible for comprehensive benefits from day one of full-time hire, and will contribute to the company's mission of feeding the world. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with rotating weekends and holidays, from 5:50 am to 1:50 pm, subject to change based on production needs. The role also involves adhering to strict biosecurity and animal welfare requirements, including showering and changing clothing before entering the facility, and avoiding avian species outside of work.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (employment gap will be increased to 18 months if applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care)
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods
  • Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must use safe lifting techniques
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines
  • Must be able to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment: Safety goggles, safety glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and company issued footwear
  • Must use ear plugs as required
  • Must wear NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators as needed
  • Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning, storing, reassembling, testing and maintaining of Feed Conversion processing machinery
  • Operating equipment during processing and making required adjustments
  • Performing preventative maintenance
  • Attending to and caring for birds in Real Time Feed Conversion houses
  • Inspecting birds to ascertain quality and progress
  • Weighing, placing and removing birds from RTFCR
  • Inspecting and preparing the FCR units each morning for accurate data collection, feed usage and overall operation
  • Noting any adjustments made to the machines
  • Consulting FCR engineer regarding problems with machines or birds
  • Troubleshooting and completing necessary repairs if possible
  • Observing birds for signs of illness and treating according to instructions
  • Picking up and disposing of mortality
  • Euthanizing selected or weak/ill birds according to company policy
  • Monitoring and adjusting ventilation and light
  • Cleaning and disinfecting waterers and pens and performing routine housekeeping duties
  • Observing biosecurity procedures and performing steps necessary to maintain biosecurity
  • Repairing pens, or equipment
  • Vaccinating and isolating birds, if necessary, for disease control
  • Recording information according to instructions such as line, MG, bird weight, medications, feed and water intake, and mortality
  • Sanitizing breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles
  • Following all applicable safety policies and procedures (Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Identifying, addressing and mitigating safety related risks
