About The Position

WPTV, The E.W. Scripps NBC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Florida is looking for a Real-Time Editor. You're someone who can write the right headlines - headlines that don't just grab attention, but tell readers why a story matters. You know how to stop someone from scrolling - you are intentional with pictures and video. You understand showcasing through copy, content and a call for action. You understand brand language. You know social strategy and how to make it work. You understand vertical video and its importance in news. WPTV covers Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast which means more than 230 days of sunshine and some of the country's most beautiful beaches on which to enjoy that sunshine! There's plenty more to do when you're not at work including cheering on the Dolphins, Heat and Panthers. The region also boasts a thriving arts scene and many days to enjoy outdoor dining!

Requirements

• BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience.
• Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred.
• Prior experience in digital media, content management systems, basic HTML, image editing, web and TV-style writing and social networking.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit and optimize digital content as it is gathered for the web, with story-by-story direction from Executive Producer of Real-Time Desk.
• Work as a savvy social media expert by crafting content for station accounts that actively engage and interact with our audience, in line with standards set by Executive Producer of Real-Time Desk.
• Apply knowledge of the dynamics of digital media as well as television content distribution, and actively work to gather elements advantageous to both platforms.
• Oversee the completion of assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc.
• Partner with field crews to help foster enterprise story news gathering.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
