About The Position

The position involves producing high-quality building drawings and directives for consultants to complete construction documents. The role requires effective negotiation of building designs with landlords, communication of designs and progress with management teams, and research and understanding of building codes in each location for which a building is being constructed. The individual will manage projects from initial design through construction and opening, utilizing Photoshop and AutoCAD to create supplemental drawings. Collaboration with landlords, legal teams, jurisdictions, and consultants is essential to successfully construct O'Reilly locations.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree in the field of architecture, engineering, or construction, or high school diploma and 4-5 years of experience with architectural design or construction, related to commercial design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work from a prototype.
  • Ability to multitask, critically think, negotiate, and coordinate.

Nice To Haves

  • BS in graphic design, architecture, architectural design, construction management or other building trades related discipline from an accredited university with subsequent continuing education courses.
  • 3 years' experience with an architectural design firm.
  • Previous experience with commercial retail design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills necessary.
  • Photoshop knowledge desired.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate with landlords to get the best design for the company.
  • Make high-level design and operations decisions based on company standards, state and local regulations using own judgement.
  • Produce construction documents for company construction projects through sheet preparation and layout ensuring that all working drawings are prepared in accordance with applicable national and local codes through code research and general knowledge.
  • Review plans of each construction document before and after completion.
  • Review Project As-Built packages and determine site feasibility.
  • Coordinate and communicate with outside consultants and other development personnel.
  • Contact city officials for permit requirements on new or remodeling project.
  • Use Photoshop to produce design concept studies, paint schemes, and documents for landlord approval.
  • Work with O'Reilly operations, SAC, and Expansion Committee teams to best adhere to company policies and procedures.
