The AVP will be focused on accounting policy for BREIT and its affiliated portfolio companies with a focus on new transactions, policy implementation, and strategic analysis on how accounting decisions impact critical performance metrics and disclosures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (or above) in Accounting or Finance
  • 6+ years of public/private accounting experience
  • Experience with public companies and historical-cost accounting is required
  • Experience with public REITs and SEC registrants is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic professional culture
  • Detail-oriented with strong work ethic; ability to multi-task and execute a wide range of assignments; strong time management skills
  • CPA is required

Responsibilities

  • Determine property accounting treatment of unique and complex transactions, in partnership with investment professionals and senior BREIT finance leaders
  • Ensure the accounting policies of portfolio companies align with BREIT's policies
  • Assist with onboarding of newly acquired portfolio companies to ensure framework for monthly reporting and SOX controls are aligned with BREIT requirements
  • Liaise with Blackstone Real Estate portfolio companies to ensure the accuracy of underlying monthly property results
  • Partner with others in BREIT finance to ensure new transactions are appropriately disclosed in SEC reporting and key performance metrics
  • Partner with others in BREIT Finance to strike the monthly NAV
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors
  • Analyze new accounting standards to determine impact on BREIT
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis as required by senior management
