About The Position

The Ready Start Para Educator works in a Co-Teach model supporting the instruction of 3-5 year old children, including children receiving special education services. This position is responsible for assisting in implementing the district adopted curriculum.

Requirements

  • ability to respond calmly and professionally to emergency situations
  • ability to follow directions
  • A First Aid / CPR certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and successful work experience in an Early Childhood setting is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning and implementing the curriculum, designing classroom environments, including multicultural educational experiences, to meet the needs of all children (including those with disabilities), utilizing the district adopted curriculum.
  • Participates in planning and carrying out daily activities with the Ready Start Teachers, prepares materials and the learning environment as directed.
  • Assists with classroom management and helps students achieve positive social skill development.
  • Assist students with toileting, diapering and basic health needs, as needed.
  • Supervises student activities in the classroom and on school grounds.
  • Makes daily written observations of students, utilizing the district adopted assessment tools.
  • May assume limited responsibilities of the instructor in their absence.
  • Attends in-service training as necessary; attend other district-required training.
  • Performs related duties as needed.
