Today, Silvi Materials manufactures concrete at multiple state locations and supplies those plants with materials from Silvi owned mining operations and a deep-water port facility. As a Silvi Materials Operations Intern , you will have the opportunity to tap into the world of concrete and learn what the world’s most used building material it is all about. You will get to work alongside our Plant Managers + Plant Mechanics and see all that it takes to run a Ready-Mix plant. Your 10–12-week experience will include everything from learning the aggregate business, field visits to our other mines (Sand) and hands on heavy equipment/plant maintenance. The goal of the Ready Mix Operations Internship is to provide individuals with a hands-on approach to what it takes to run a high yardage producing plant!
Requirements
- Enrollment or achievement of a collegiate program preferably in the fields of Concrete Industry Management, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, General Engineering, Construction Management, or Materials Science required.
- Valid Driver’s License
Responsibilities
- Assist in the day-to-day production responsibilities of ready mix concrete plant including:
- Learn how to batch concrete, everything from formulas to how to achieve the perfect slump (Real world experience)
- Hands on expereince with the formation of concrete blocks for clients and company use.
- Working alongside Maintenance, quality control and dispatch . (Team driven environment)
- Aggregate evaluation for batching and stockpile purposes.
- Maintenance of machinery from conveyors to hydraulics/pneumatics. (Hands on, tools out)
- Operation of heavy equipment (Learn how to operate a Front-End Loader)
- Travel to various Silvi Materials Concrete Plant Locations (Ready Mix and Dry Batch Plants Exposure)
