Requirements

  • High school diploma (minimum); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to pass Federal Department of Transportation drug screen and physical.
  • Maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations and meet company policy requirements.
  • Ability to handle cash and make change.
  • Ability to deal with customers and other employees in a diplomatic manner in a variety of stressful situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
  • Maintain Department of Transportation Health conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Drives truck equipped with a concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to job sites.
  • Pre-trip inspection of ready-mix truck pursuant to D.O.T. regulations.
  • Fills water tank before each delivery.
  • Upon receiving the delivery ticket, driver pulls the truck under or backs truck under the plant and charges mixer to receive concrete.
  • Uses map book and experience to take the most direct route to job site to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Safely maneuvers truck in often very unstable ground conditions upon arriving at job site.
  • Adds necessary ingredients such as fibers, chemical admixtures, cement, or integral colors at plant or job site.
  • Places chutes from fender or hanging rack onto the main chute at the rear of truck for discharge as per customer needs.
  • Completes all paperwork and collects money if necessary prior to leaving the job site.
  • Communicates with dispatch through the use of two-way radio and truck status signaling system.
  • Calls callout each day for start time.
