About The Position

The Ready-Mix Driver is responsible for transporting ready mix concrete products from batch plants to customer job sites, ensuring the proper maintenance of the concrete's slump and the cleanliness of the mixer truck. This role requires flexibility in working hours based on customer demands and involves various vehicle inspections and maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Class B Commercial Drivers' License at a minimum.
  • A Class A Commercial Drivers' License is preferred.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a current DOT Medical Qualification.
  • Air brake skills test required for all vehicles that have air brakes.
  • Must meet Driver Qualification Standards for the operating company.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, fitness for duty evaluation, and pre-employment drug testing.
  • No driving experience needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Transport ready mix concrete products from batch plants to customer job sites.
  • Maintain proper slump (water content) of ready-mix concrete.
  • Inspect, service, and clean the concrete mixer truck.
  • Drive the truck in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Inspect destination job sites to ensure safe maneuverability of the truck.
  • Maintain radio contact with dispatch during deliveries.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
  • Conduct daily vehicle maintenance, including checking and adding fluids, lubricating, and fueling the truck.
  • Assist mechanics with vehicle repairs as needed.
  • Wash vehicles to remove cement dust and concrete buildup.
  • Remove concrete buildup from inside the drum using a chipping hammer if necessary.
  • Set up and pour retaining blocks, curbs, etc., when returning to the yard with excess concrete.
  • Maintain a clean work environment for the truck and plant.
