About The Position

The Reading Partners Seattle AmeriCorps Member position is a full-time service role aimed at empowering young readers through individualized literacy support. Members will serve in-person from August/September 2025 to June/July 2026, committing to over 1700 hours of service. This role emphasizes community engagement and literacy intervention, providing essential training and professional development throughout the service term.

Requirements

• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Hold US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status.
• Be at least 18 years old at the beginning of service.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Be open to learning technology systems like Salesforce, Google Apps, and Zoom.
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment and work independently.

Nice To Haves

• Experience volunteering with community-based or education programs.
• Previous service with AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or other national service organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized reading support to students to help them achieve grade-level reading proficiency.
• Engage with the community to promote literacy and recruit volunteers.
• Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities.
• Collaborate with school staff and community partners to enhance literacy programs.
• Assist in the evaluation and improvement of literacy intervention strategies.
