Requirements

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree. Certified to teach in the state of Iowa.
  • Preferred: One year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth.
  • Knowledge of required subject area
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Ability to effectively relate to student population

Responsibilities

  • Help students achieve improved standardized testing scores in math
  • Establish a high degree of student/instructor rapport and creates a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to promote student motivation
  • Maintain a high degree of accountability within the classroom setting in order to allow for maximum learning
  • Document student attendance, performance, progress, and behavior in a timely manner and within program guidelines
  • Deliver instruction using provided curriculum resources or new/updated curriculum
  • Integrate applied academic activities into classroom curriculum
  • Maintain adequate classroom cleanliness and preparation
  • Effectively relate to the student population and recognize student success in the classroom
  • Adhere to all data integrity measures related to classroom instruction and testing
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
