About The Position

As a Reactor Core Thermal Hydraulic Design intern, you will be a part of the Thermal Hydraulic Design Group which focuses on analysis for US and international customers, following approved methodologies, procedures and internal processes on nuclear safety and quality to produce error-free work. You will report to the Fuel Rod & Thermal Hydraulic Design Manager and be located at our Cranberry location. This is a paid, full-time onsite summer position.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Complete Sophomore year of college
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Computer simulation, programming skills and Linux experience

Responsibilities

  • Participate in introductory thermal hydraulic design specific training and learning seminars
  • Acquire knowledge about reactor core thermal hydraulic design, the key fuel features and operating parameters, the design process and parameters, the codes used to evaluate thermal hydraulic design and the different analyses performed
  • Perform thermal hydraulic design analyses by using the internal subchannel codes, following approved methodologies
  • Work directly with industry professionals who will teach you the technical and professional aspects of fuel rod design and working in the nuclear industry
