About The Position

The ReStore Cashier at Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity is a part-time role responsible for assisting customers with their purchases and generating revenue through the sale of donated building materials. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission to provide affordable housing and improve community living standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in cash handling, cashiering, or accounting position, preferably in retail.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to provide direction positively.
  • Knowledge of sales, marketing, and mathematics.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish/English (additional $1k compensation).
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and unexpected shifts in priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers entering ReStore.
  • Answer customers' questions and provide information on procedures or policies.
  • Resolve customer complaints.
  • Receive and disburse money in a retail store environment.
  • Use electronic scanners, cash registers, or related equipment to complete sales.
  • Process credit or debit card transactions.
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
  • Establish or identify prices of goods or services and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
  • Process merchandise returns and exchanges.
  • Receive payment by cash, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
  • Monitor checkout stations to ensure adequate cash availability and appropriate staffing.
  • Reconcile cash receipts for nightly deposit.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
