About The Position

The Re-entry Specialist provides support for all program initiatives. This position provides direct support to the incarcerated and re-entry populations and assists with daily program needs. The Specialist conducts intake, helps build individualized plans and provides referrals. This position shares education and training information and connects students and participants to essential resources. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: Provides immediate and ongoing individualized support for incarcerated and re-entry populations. Conducts intake, gathers demographic and release of information, builds student record and case notes initial engagement. Assists participants with assessing immediate needs and co-creates individualized plans by determining supports necessary to achieve long term goals. Refers to in house support for education, training, employment, peer support, and basic needs. Provides referrals to community agencies for various needs and assists with benefit applications. Maintains and builds 180 RAP resource list, while working collaboratively with community providers to understand agency processes and systems to best support re-entry participants with appropriate referral methods. Provides support with ongoing tracking and reporting of participant and program outcomes. Participates in various events including, but not limited to: departmental meetings, community and re-entry meetings and student appreciation and re-entry events. Provides general oversight of wraparound supports provided at the MCC Re-entry Center. Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of administrative support functions and office practices. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Skilled in human relations and diplomacy. Ability to communicate, effectively work and interact with a diverse population, various cultures and ethnicities. Ability to maintain accurate records and pay close attention to detail. Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree. Four (4) years of full-time work-related experience including high attention to detail, providing support and scheduling. Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered. Valid driver's license and insurability to drive college vehicles is required. Must pass a background check.
