The Registered Dietitian II at UC San Diego Health is responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy to inpatient adults across multiple service teams at the Hillcrest and La Jolla Campuses. This role involves assessing nutrition needs, collaborating with healthcare teams, and developing nutrition care plans for moderate to high-risk patients. The dietitian will also mentor interns and participate in departmental projects and research, ensuring continuous professional development.

  • Provide float coverage for inpatient adults on both Hillcrest and La Jolla Campuses.
  • Assess nutrition needs and collaborate with healthcare teams to provide nutrition support recommendations.
  • Develop, implement, and record nutrition care plans in the EHR for assigned patients.
  • Continuously evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
  • Participate in department special projects, performance improvement activities, and research.
  • Provide nutrition lectures and in-services to nutrition and medical staff as assigned.
  • Mentor dietetic interns, residents, and students.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Foods and Nutrition/Dietetics and completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics internship.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification.
  • Two years of experience in a comparable acuity level and experience with nutrition support.
  • Experience using EPIC.
  • Master's degree in Nutrition or 10 CPEU/year.
  • CNSC certification.
  • Two years of experience in an inpatient setting.
