About The Position

At Collins Aerospace, we’re developing next-generation military communications systems that operate in the most demanding environments. We’re looking for a Test Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team responsible for creating advanced test solutions that validate and transition these technologies from development into production. In this role, you’ll drive how complex systems are tested, proven, and deployed. You’ll lead the design and delivery of test software across lab and factory environments, partnering closely with software and systems teams to ensure performance, reliability, and readiness at scale. This is a hands-on leadership role with direct impact on program success, where your work will help bring critical capabilities from concept to real-world application.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Previous experience leading small engineering teams
  • Previous experience with bidding, project planning, earned value management, and risk and opportunity management
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in all software development lifecycle stages from concept to factory transition
  • Experience with the development of factory test stations and factory transition processes
  • Proficient with test equipment typically found in the factory such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc
  • Experience with Agile development concepts

Responsibilities

  • Lead, Develop, and Grow Engineering Talent: Manage and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, guiding professional development, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a collaborative culture that supports career growth and job satisfaction.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Engage with engineers, engineering leadership, program managers, and shared service organizations to ensure seamless integration of products into the factory. Foster strong networking relationships with both, product development teams and factory production teams to support project success.
  • Champion Earlier Test Development: Advocate for starting software test solutions early in the process and increase reuse from early testing to factory test solutions.
  • Support Pursuit and Bidding Activities: Participate actively in pursuit activities, including bidding for new programs. Contribute technical expertise and strategic insights to strengthen proposals and secure new business opportunities.
  • Optimize Staffing and Program Management: Manage staffing levels across multiple programs to ensure alignment with project schedules and resource requirements. Utilize earned value management techniques to monitor and enhance program performance and profitability.
  • Ensure Compliance and Process Adherence: Uphold Collins' standards and procedures, ensuring all engineering activities comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and enhance operational effectiveness.
