About The Position

As our Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), you will be a vital clinical professional, dedicated to providing high-quality respiratory care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric critical care patients. Every day, under medical and departmental direction, you'll deliver essential respiratory care per physician orders and policies. You'll ensure critical care services are met, meticulously manage equipment, and adapt care plans to optimize patient outcomes. To be successful, you'll combine strong clinical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication, and a compassionate approach, directly contributing to healing and recovery in critical care.

Requirements

  • Experience in acute Respiratory Therapy
  • RCP's without previous managerialexperience will be considered on anindividual basis
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: CA, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 30 Days
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 30 Days
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 30 Days

Responsibilities

  • Fills all the clinical responsibilities of a staff Respiratory Therapist.
  • Ensures compliance to departmental operating capital budget by: Assisting and directing assignments based on department activity and competency of the available personnel. Facilitating the smooth functioning of the department; seeks out opportunities to provide effective leadership to ensure quality care. Reporting and following through on Variance Reports and unusual occurrences, including but not limited to system problems or failures.
  • Scheduling staff, replacing staff, providing on-call coverage utilizing RT staffing guidelines and available resources.
  • Participates in the selection and counseling process of employees by: Participating in the interviews of prospective employees. Providing new staff with effective orientation and training. Identifying on-going training needs of each staff member; collaborates in the planning of annual in-services, classes, and training. Providing on-going feedback to employees regarding performance expectations. Completing employee evaluations within the designated time frame. Following progressive discipline procedures and making recommendations regarding employee discipline or discharge.
  • Assists in the compliance with JCAHO, licensing, and other relevant regulatory standards by: Maintaining an awareness of current regulatory standards and educating staff to same. Participating in monitoring Quality Improvement indicators and sharing results with the staff and designated committees.
  • Contributes to continuous process improvement by: Participating in multidisciplinary process improvement teams and ensuring staff participation as needed. Participating in the review and updating of department policy and procedures.
  • Contributes to effective problem-solving by: Diffusing serious conflict and high tension situations. Completing follow-up on physician and patient complaints in the designated time frame.
