About The Position

As our Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), you will be a vital clinical professional, dedicated to providing high-quality respiratory care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric critical care patients. Every day, under medical and departmental direction, you'll deliver essential respiratory care per physician orders and policies. You'll ensure critical care services are met, meticulously manage equipment, and adapt care plans to optimize patient outcomes. To be successful, you'll combine strong clinical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication, and a compassionate approach, directly contributing to healing and recovery in critical care.

Requirements

  • Completed all accredited education requirements to be in possession of a valid license in good standing issued bythe National Board for Respiratory Care or its success or organization enabling them to practice as a Respiratory Care Professional.
  • Competency and skill validation required prior to being promoted to this level.
  • 1-3 years experience.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: NV
  • Blood Gas: NV
  • Basic Life Support - CPR
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

  • Two years or more of recent critical care experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, collects, and evaluates relevant clinical data in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Performs basic and advanced therapeutic procedures for adult patients according to the quality guidelines established in the departmental policy and procedure manual.
  • Formulates an appropriate Respiratory Care plan based upon accurate patient assessment and current clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Communicates necessary changes in the Respiratory Care plan to physicians, preceptors, nurses, and others as appropriate in a timely manner.
  • Provides effective education to patients, students and co-workers as appropriate.
  • Accurately and safely performs fundamental and advanced diagnostic procedures according to departmental policy and procedure.
  • Assembles, checks, and corrects malfunctions and performs quality controls on equipment.
  • Performs emergency and acute Respiratory Care procedures in accordance with the quality guidelines in the departmental policy and procedure manual.
  • Actively participates in departmental quality assurance and continuous performance improvement activities.
