About The Position

The RCM Team Lead is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of RCM billing staff and clients in the RCM department. It is the responsibility of the RCM Team Lead to ensure that all billing specialists have access to information necessary to submit claims on a daily basis. They are also responsible for ensuring that billing staff posts all payments including electronic remittances and manual payments according to the RMC Policies and Procedures. The RCM Team Lead will oversee the management of the accounts receivable for all division client(s) and will be accountable to key performance indicators benchmarks. The RCM Team Lead reports to the RCM Division Manager and / or Regional VP of RCM.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of various medical coding concepts such as CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10/Modifiers/Units
  • Understand various commercial and government payer guidelines
  • Successfully navigate multiple billing software systems and electronic medical records
  • Understand billing nuances for complex medical specialties
  • Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a team
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Meets and exceeds short and long-term goals as established for the department
  • Take ownership of special projects, research data, and follow through with detailed action plans
  • Actively participate in problem identification and coordinate resolutions between appropriate parties
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to division billing team
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience as a medical biller or Certified Professional Billing (CPB) certification with 5-7 years of experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that billing team posts charges daily
  • Ensure daily claims submission for all division projects
  • Ensure daily payment entry for ERA and manual payments, both insurance and patient
  • Monitor and track patient and insurance account receivable
  • Monitor and track timely and accurate processing of denied claims
  • Ensure monthly processing of patient and insurance refunds for all division clients
  • Ensure monthly submission of patient statements for all division clients
  • Communicate routinely with client / office staff to resolve issues
  • Communicate and review month end reports with both clients and staff
  • Prepare annual performance coaching and feedback for division billing staff with Reg. VP of RCM
  • Participate in recruitment and hiring of new division staff with Reg. VP of RCM
  • Collaborate with HR/manager to document / deliver disciplinary communication if necessary
  • Monitor key performance indicators / metrics to ensure compliance with organizational benchmarks
  • Communicate organizational changes and information with staff
