About The Position

Zurich is currently looking for a RCIS Crop Claims Field Adjuster I to join our Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) team. RCIS is one of the leading crop insurance providers in the U.S. RCIS offers insurance protection in all 50 states through a national network of about 3,600 licensed agents. RCIS offers a wide range of private product coverages, including a diverse selection of named-peril options, supplemental and stand-alone insurance products as well as federal crop insurance plans through the United States Department of Agriculture's Risk Management Agency. Together with RCIS agents, we protect America's farmers and ranchers. The Crop Adjuster is to work out of the state of Minnesota or Wisconsin. This incumbent will work from a home-based office. This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week. Approximately 50% travel is expected to cover the territory. The ideal candidate will need to live and service within a 60-mile area of the following counties: Trempealeau, Pepin, Pierce and Buffalo in Wisconsin and Dakota and Scott in Minnesota.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 6 or more months of experience in the agricultural area.
  • Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) must be obtained within 180 days of hire date.
  • Reliable personal transportation and travel within territory.
  • Ability to walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles, climb agricultural storage bins up to 25 feet, lift 25 lbs to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in varying temperatures/weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, evaluate and conclude complex field inspections by following appropriate regulatory and company rules and procedures.
  • Ensure that claims are handled in the most effective, efficient way while delivering a customer-centric claims service.
  • Provide support to Area Claims Managers as a local claims specialist in the facilitation of general day to day operations and claims management.
  • Support lower level adjusting staff by completing and/or providing training and assistance with complex claims.
  • Exercise judgment to determine liability by gathering and analyzing relevant facts.
  • Determine policy verification and coverage determination by analyzing applicable coverage for claims.
  • Participate in Risk Management Agency initiated reviews and referrals for sake of operations integrity and quality assurance.
  • Protect Zurich's reputation by keeping claims information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, staying current with industry trends, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
