RB Chem Analyst III - Berkeley, CA RB Chem Analyst III As an RB Chem Analyst III, you will perform routine wet chemistry and basic instrumental analysis of product and raw material samples. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and safety of our products, contributing to the overall success of our operations.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of college-level coursework in Chemistry, including Inorganic and Organic Chemistry and/or Biochemistry, and a minimum of one (1) year applicable analytical chemistry experience in pharmaceutical, clinical, and/or Quality Control environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, SOPs, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented with good record-keeping practices and ability to follow data integrity rules
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with lab management systems such as LIMS and Mobile Data Acquisition System (MODA)
  • Experience and competency with USP, EP, JP, ACS, FCC compendia/monographs
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work safely in an environment containing hazardous chemicals, high and low temperature liquids, high pressure liquids and gases, steam, and moving machinery
  • Ability to withstand frequent repetitive movement and sitting
  • Must be able to wear protective clothing (PPE) as required
  • Must not have unusual sensitivity to typical lab chemicals or gloves
  • Must be able to pass an eye exam, including testing for near vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Must meet Occupational Demands/Physical Requirement checklist
  • Hepatitis B vaccine recommended

Nice To Haves

  • SAP (or similar software) experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine chemical analyses using a wide variety of wet chemistry and instrumentation analysis as directed by a Supervisor or sub-supervisor
  • Conduct instrumentation analyses, including pH, Conductivity, UV-Vis, Viscosity, Flame Atomic Absorption, Melting Point, Specific Rotation, Karl Fischer, FTIR, Osmolality, and TOC
  • Execute wet chemistry analyses such as TLC, ID testing, Bulk Gas Testing, Manual Titrations, Common Gravimetric Tests, Limit Test, Heavy Metals, Arsenic, Specific Gravity, Potentiometric Titrations, and Glass testing
  • Calculate results using pre-defined computer programs or calculators and enter data on detailed test records and in computer database
  • Prepare and standardize volumetric solutions and perform routine calibration of lab instruments and cleaning of lab equipment
  • Receive and log samples in LIMS, and report testing results in SAP, with peer review of test results as required
  • Collaborate with cross-functional areas including Quality Control, QC Raw Materials Inspection, QC Sample Handling Office, Other QC Labs, and Production
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
