About The Position

This position is responsible for receiving and unloading of all incoming raw potatoes. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • In order to promote a manufacturing environment that is safe and efficient for both personnel and food, the ability to effectively communicate in basic English (both verbal and written) is required. This includes the ability to speak, read and comprehend safety instructions, rules and warnings for self and others in both normal and emergency situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, as well as ability to work with measurements of weight, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations, with skills in gathering relevant information and facts used to identify and solve problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
  • Basic Computer Skills

  • Prior experience preferred: Raw Receiving, Machine Operating
  • Licenses and Certifications Preferred: Forklift, Pallet jack, Food Handler’s Permit (applicable to Clark County, Las Vegas)

Responsibilities

  • Setup, operate, and maintain potato unloading equipment.
  • Ensure that the proper potato variety and amount are sent to the correct bin.
  • Perform visual inspections & pre-operational audits on unloading equipment and storage bins as per departmental procedures.
  • Minimize recovery loss during the unloading process and accurately record losses on paperwork.
  • Understand the truck delivery schedule and communicate any schedule problems.
  • Carry out pre-dump inspections on all potato loads and totes. Communicate product not meeting acceptance criteria to Supervisor and Manager.
  • Perform all tests required for Raw Receiving and accurately fill out paperwork
  • Ensure proper removal of foreign material during the unloading process and communicate unusual foreign material findings to supervisor, including glass, metal, brittle materials, excessive amounts of corn cobs or rocks, etc. and taking the appropriate action to segregate the affected potatoes and prevent from entering the plant.
  • Effectively communicating relevant information to fellow employees on the shift and to on-coming employees at shift change.
  • General cleaning of equipment and maintaining good housekeeping in the raw receiving area.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Perform other duties as defined by specific departmental job procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
