Raw Materials Planning Manager

About The Position

We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Raw Materials Planning Manager to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of fabric and raw material procurement. This role is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material flow, from mill to production, by balancing demand forecasting, inventory management, and supplier partnerships. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage high-volume core fabric programs, and proactively aligns sourcing decisions with production and business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Textiles, Fashion, or related field (preferred but not required)
  • 4–7+ years of experience in fabric sourcing, raw materials planning, or apparel supply chain roles
  • Strong understanding of textile construction, lead times, and sourcing processes
  • Experience managing high-volume replenishment programs
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management experience
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP/PLM systems (e.g., FDM4, Anaplan, Centric, etc.)
  • Knowledge of global sourcing and logistics timelines

  • Experience in apparel or activewear manufacturing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure fabrics and raw materials aligned with product and production needs
  • Manage relationships with domestic and offshore mills, ensuring quality, reliability, and scalability
  • Negotiate pricing, capacity, lead times, and MOQs to support margin and production goals
  • Partner with product development and technical teams on fabric approvals and performance standards
  • Develop and manage raw material forecasts based on demand plans, sales trends, and production schedules
  • Own fabric capacity planning with mills to support both replenishment and new production needs and minimize stockouts
  • Monitor inventory levels, aging stock, and excess/obsolete materials
  • Align material planning with production schedules and capacity constraints
  • Issue and track purchase orders, ensuring on-time delivery of materials
  • Partner closely with production, planning, and logistics teams to align material flow with factory schedules
  • Drive replenishment strategies for high-volume basics (e.g., jersey, fleece, rib)
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (delays, shortages, quality issues)
  • Analyze fabric consumption, usage trends, and cost drivers
  • Track KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, and material cost variance
  • Provide recommendations to optimize sourcing strategies and inventory efficiency
  • Maintain accurate data in ERP/PLM systems for materials, orders, and inventory
