The Novelis team in Bay Minette, Alabama has an opening for a Raw Materials Analyst. This role reports to the Supply Chain Leader – Raw Materials. The Raw Materials Analyst is responsible for the report development, data analytics, and schedule/inventory coordination for Bay Minette’s Casting Lines. You will partner with operations, procurement, logistics, quality teams, and technical customer service departments to drive supply chain cost improvements and excellence. The day-to-day decisions made by the Raw Materials Analyst have a direct impact on customer centricity (especially OTIF). This role also requires being cross trained across all Bay Minette planning, scheduling, and logistics functions.

Requirements

  • Associates degree and 2 years of experience or a bachelor’s degree and exposure to supply chain management through experience and/or course work.
  • 2 years of analytical experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
  • Ability to work in an active manufacturing environment and maintain a strong sense of safety.
  • Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced or higher Excel Skills:
  • Ability to manipulate, cleanse and analyze large amounts of data in Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to learn new software programs quickly.
  • SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Must also possess leadership skills to direct, lead and develop other personnel to accomplish department, plant, and corporate objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aluminum or metals casting preferred but not required.
  • Experience utilizing VBA

Responsibilities

  • Supporting world class safety culture.
  • Maintain and support a safe working environment in the plant.
  • Monitors daily raw material flow from inbound through the casting process, including evaluating metal inputs and balancing scrap types to support production schedule.
  • Supports initiatives to improve raw material process flows, helping to eliminate bottlenecks and identify obstacles to production.
  • Provide order administration support from a scheduling perspective including rotating coverage.
  • Possess expertise on the interaction and flow of Supply Chain related information between SAP, Quintiq Scheduler and Level 2 systems. Resolve transactional errors to ensure system accuracy.
  • Work closely with plant operations to be part of the discussion chain regarding raw material and inventory issues.
  • Facilitate the transformation of manual reporting tools into a well-rounded business intelligence environment automating manual work & improving efficiency.
  • Review capacity assumptions with operations leadership periodically to gain alignment.
  • Monitors critical operating materials, such as production consumables, metal inputs, or scrap, to always maintain adequate levels. Failure could result in plants shutting down or unsafe operating conditions.
  • Monitors processes focused on inventory control and productivity levels.
  • Provide input and frequently interact with the plant to ensure awareness of raw material or inventory issues within a timeframe, which allows for reaction.
  • Acquire and communicate improvement ideas from crew members, management, or self-directed.
  • Participate in improvement projects initiated by plant management that impact raw materials.
  • Consistently seek out training and learning to improve performance and to be data driven in all endeavors.
  • May be asked to perform other supply chain duties such as scheduling, planning, forecasting, and supporting production.
  • Special projects and other tasks as assigned.
