About the position

The Raw Material Buyer for the Tail-spend And Distribution (TAD) team at BASF Corporation is responsible for procuring chemical raw materials to support the North American region. This role involves negotiating with suppliers, managing procurement strategies, and collaborating with various business units to ensure a reliable supply of materials. The position requires strong interpersonal skills and a results-driven approach to optimize procurement processes and support multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of TAD procurement strategies for the Americas.
• Negotiate to ensure competitive pricing while minimizing risk.
• Support or lead various projects and initiatives.
• Lead the sourcing process (RFI, RFQ, RFP, etc.) for the assigned portfolio.
• Provide relationship management for key suppliers, including monitoring performance metrics and resolving claims.
• Engage across the business by collaborating with all areas of BASF.
• Run large digital tenders and embrace a data-driven approach.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering/Operations, Sales, or related fields.
• At least two years of professional experience in procurement or related areas.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical skills and results-oriented mindset.
• Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SAP, COUPA, Power BI, and electronic bidding platforms.
• Prior negotiation experience.
