About The Position

We are currently looking to add a dynamic UVM Specialist to our passionate team of environmental professionals. The Rapid Response Arborist will work with major electric/gas utility systems and address its forestry needs. This position involves inspecting utility rights of ways and identifying vegetation incompatible with state and federal regulations. The role requires collecting and entering data on handheld devices, following maps, and using GPS navigation. The Arborist will communicate with landowners regarding work on or near their property, assess all terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions, and coordinate with project managers, planners, and vegetation crews. The position also involves promoting safety and maintaining a safe work environment, managing daily utility vegetation operations, ensuring schedule targets are met, and providing client and contractor support. The Arborist will respond to customer complaints and concerns and participate in nationwide emergency/natural disaster response efforts.

Requirements

  • Previous experience successfully working as Utility Vegetation Management Technician or equivalent experience in the industry.
  • Professional or Collegiate Practical Tree Work Experience (including Collegiate Climbing Classes, Forestry Club Operations, Production Climber, Groundsman, or Lift Operator, etc.).
  • Proficiency with local Tree Identification and Tree Physiology.
  • ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain in 6-12 months.
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License.
  • Current Driver's License and Driving Record in good standing.
  • Proficient working knowledge of computers including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint.

  • Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
  • Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle.
  • Self-driven desire to improve processes and procedures for client and company goals.
  • International Society for Arboriculture (ISA) utility specialist.
  • International Society for Arboriculture (ISA) tree risk assessment qualified (TRAQ).
  • State pesticide applicator's license.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect distribution utility right-of-ways and access to Right-of-Way (ROW) areas for compliance with state clearance standards.
  • Identify needed tree and brush control work and provide information to line-clearance crews.
  • Document work using hand-held computer.
  • Notify property owners of pending work on their property.
  • Audit work completed by contractors.
  • Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues.
  • Work with major electric/gas utility system and address its forestry needs.
  • Collect and enter data on handheld devices, follow maps and use GPS navigation.
