About The Position

The Sr Staff Engineer in RandD Engineering at Synopsys Inc. is responsible for developing and engineering comprehensive physical design solutions with a focus on customer flows. This role involves interacting with electronic design customers and industry partners to assess requirements and propose solutions, while also developing reference methodologies for high-performance cores across advanced technology nodes. The engineer will drive the deployment of reference flows to help customers achieve optimal Power/Performance/Area targets and will analyze data to present findings for future product enhancements.

Requirements

• Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and four (4) years of experience in digital/mixed signal ASIC design and reference methodology development.
• Alternatively, a Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in the same fields and six (6) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in digital/mixed signal ASIC design and reference methodology development.
• Experience in logic design, physical design, and verification methodologies.
• Knowledge of static timing analysis and VLSI design.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Tcl/Tk, or Shell.
• Experience with Verilog/VHDL and EDA/DFM tool engineering.
• Familiarity with CPU design and flow methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and engineer comprehensive physical design solutions with full customer flows.
• Interact with electronic design customers and industry partners to assess customer flows and gather requirements.
• Propose solutions based on customer needs and industry standards.
• Develop reference methodologies for high-performance cores across advanced technology nodes.
• Deploy reference flows across multiple customers to achieve superior Power/Performance/Area targets.
• Drive, prototype, and design new methodologies and solutions across products.
• Analyze gathered data and present findings to customers and RandD teams for future enhancements.
• Leverage technical knowledge of multiple products and tools to create differentiated solutions.
