The Ramp Service Agent is a crucial role within the aviation industry, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of ground services at the airport. This position involves handling customer luggage, which includes loading and unloading baggage on and off the aircraft. Ramp Service Agents are also tasked with marshaling in and pushing back aircraft, operating ground service equipment (GSE), and meeting arriving flights while servicing departing ones. Additionally, they assist customers with special needs and provide support to customer service agents as required. The role encompasses a variety of duties that are essential for maintaining the efficiency and safety of airport operations. In this position, agents will perform a range of essential duties and responsibilities. They will be required to move luggage and comail of various weights and dimensions to and from aircraft and airport luggage receiving areas. This includes loading and unloading baggage, luggage, and comail, as well as operating ground equipment such as tugs and belt loaders. Agents will also marshal aircraft to and from gates, ensuring that all procedures are followed for safe operations. Furthermore, they will provide proper handling of baggage that requires special care, service aircraft lavatories, and perform interior cleaning of the aircraft. Safety is a top priority in this role. Ramp Service Agents are responsible for conducting aircraft security searches and commissary security searches, ensuring that ramp areas are safe and free of foreign object debris (FOD). They must also ensure that all ground equipment is properly maintained and follow safety regulations, which include the proper use of ground equipment and wearing the necessary safety items. Effective communication is essential, as agents must be able to communicate using a two-way radio. This position requires individuals to be at least 18 years old and possess the ability to read and write in English.
